STAR TREK: SECTION 31 Review.
It has been almost a decade since the release of the first season of DISCOVERY. A show that introduced us to not only Captain Georgiou but also her mirror universe counterpart. Emperor Philippa Georgiou. As well as a modernized portrayal of the DEEP SPACE NINE concept Section 31.
Now for those that don't remember, the early days of DISCOVERY were trying times. Controversial visuals and bizarre storytelling among other things delivered almost a grim dark vibe. A la Warhammer 40k but mixed with CWs ARROW. So I guess we could call it "cringe dark". Truth be told, the ambiance didn't connect too well with audiences so DISCOVERY underwent some progressely more radical changes over the years. Who would've thought, that so many years later, we would plunge right back into all those elements that caused DISCOVERY so much trouble?
What a bold strategy.
Sadly it was not one that paid off.
The general vibe and aesthetic, as I just stated, don't represent or reflect STAR TREK in any meaningful way. There's no social commentary, poignant political criticism. And there's not even a piece of technology recognisable as STAR TREK save for the transporter. SECTION 31 is a strange side-quest in the world of STAR TREK films that sadly doesn't bring anything to the table. A simplistic doomsday plot accompanied by its obligatory doomsday device. A run of the mill ragtag team of glorified criminals each portrayed by competent to excellent actors doing some of their most uninspired work. It's actually quite embarrassing to have Michelle Yeoh continue on delivering performances way beneath her capacity, all for the sake of seeing more of a character we need not see redeemed. And to top it all off everything is wrapped and presented in an awkward array of passable to video game cut scene level VFX.
Which conveniently brings us to my conclusion. From the way this was paced, mission after mission. From the way it was framed. Closed set after closed set. This project would've worked better as a video game. But instead we got this. A footnote in the legacy of a franchise with greater cultural significance.

Hey hey, People on the Tube!
No livestream today due to unforeseen circumstances...But my THE ORVILLE Season 3 review will be out this afternoon! I'm so happy to finally be able to share my thoughts about this growing and evolving show with you all.
When it comes to livestreams.
I might do one on Thursday or Friday this week, I dunno. If I don't, you can expect next weeks Tuesday stream to be back however. And hopefully some of the new stuff we're working on might make it in ๐ฎ Yeah, that's right. My stream game is getting better!

People of the Tube!
I'm working on a couple videos at the moment and can't wait to share them with y'all.
One is my long and somewhat negative PICARD S02 Review. Hope that doesn't scare you off ๐ The other video is about the fandoms reaction to certain elements in STRANGE NEW WORLDS and my thoughts on that. So a little different from usual but it's coming together pretty well.
In the mean time, if y'all enjoyed the Short, I could continue posting some of the musical stuff I did for Twitter as Shorts ๐

Just a heads up. My PRODIGY reviews will be a little different from my others because I will also be taking the time to talk about my daughter's reactions.
Considering the show is aimed at kids, I think her interest and investment is an important aspect to cover.

LOWER DECKS Review.
Hey everyone,
Sorry for the bad news, but my review and Easter Eggs video won't be coming out on Tuesday this week. Both the fact there are so many Easter Eggs to go over and that I have a big week at work have slowed me down quite a bit.
Hopefully I'll get it out sometime before the next episode airs and then we can get back on track!
