So there we were…
Hunt 1: An evening in the timber. The rain finally came to a halt and we saw maybe 8 deer, one being a good 10 that I was willing to take. Just a bit far away. I already started to question if we should be getting more aggressive.
Hunt 2: A frosty morning had the bucks getting frisky. This buck, Tight n Tall, was across the drainage running off other bucks, snort wheezing and bumping off inferior bucks since dawn. He put on a show, but he gave away his ace in the hole by showing us his location.
Hunt 3: We crossed the drainage, set up SLIGHTLY off wind, cracked the antlers, and the old brute came from his bedroom. He came in with a vengeance, busting every other branch, pawing the ground, and even a FINAL snort wheeze…He was leery in his last steps… but not leery enough…. THWACK
