This year, AIA Pittsburgh is honoring the Small Firms of southwestern Pennsylvania (1-9 people) with a dedicated exhibition at Design Pittsburgh on October 12. My firm is featured, and you can a sneak peak at some of our featured projects here! I’d love to know what you think!
Design Pittsburgh is a celebration of architecture and design, and honors those who create it. The evening includes an awards ceremony followed by a reception, with food, music, exhibits and a gallery of projects submitted by AIA Pittsburgh members. It is the largest coming together of the architecture community in western Pennsylvania, a great opportunity to see old friends and meet new ones, and it’s open to the public (you just need a ticket!)

Be sure to tune in today at 4pm (est.) when my latest video will be going live! You’ll be getting an exclusive tour of my latest project to be completed; a modern floral shop that is helping to redefine a community through doubling down on walkability!
This video is all about how we designed a new shop and production facility for my clients after they suffers the loss of their original store in a devastating fire. Two and a half years later they are open for business and we want to take you all along on the grand opening tour!
I'd love for you all to watch, let me know what you think of the project, it’s design, and it’s construction in the comments, and most importantly; have a great weekend!

Today at 4pm (est.) my latest video goes live, "Renovating an Old House: Architect Adds Character and Modern Functionality to a 100 Year Old Home"!
This video is all about how we renovated a 100 year old home. How I helped to guided my clients away from the trends that are all too popular on HGTV & Instagram which destroy a home's character. I discuss how we developed a plan with the homeowners, the contractor and myself for this home's renovation, and how we paid homage to its historical past while truly adding character and functionality.
I'd love for you all to watch, let me know what you think of the renovation in the comments, and most importantly; have a great weekend!

Finally nearing completion with our cabin renovation, and turning it into a modern style home. These are just a few sneak peak images that I thought I’d share. I’d love to hear what y’all think of the progress and maybe anything that you’d like to learn more about!

New Video Idea! I'd like to see if the community here would be interested in this topic if I created a video about it: Back on March 9th of 2020 I had the opportunity to tour the Marriott Dallas Uptown. The firm I worked for at the time designed this beautiful hotel, and we had the opportunity to tour the construction site as it was nearing completion. If you swipe through you'll see some pictures I took of the tour. I took a bunch of video as well, but never created a YouTube video about the tour and what it is like building a high-rise hotel. Would any of you be interested in this topic? Let me know in the comments, and have a wonderful day!

Architect - Furniture Maker - Designer
The goal of this channel is to share advice with aspiring architects, fellow architects, and those curious about the practice of architecture. As a child (5 years old) I knew I wanted to be an architect, thanks largely to "This Old House," however, I didn't quite know what it was or how to achieve it. I was fairly far along in my undergraduate education before I realized there was more to this pursuit after school than to "just get a job."
This is where this channel comes into play; as an effort to share my experiences, impart wisdom, and allow you to follow along as I grow my practice.
David founded a boutique design and furniture making practice shortly after finishing his undergraduate education in 2012. After years of working for others that small side practice eventually developed into what it is today, "David Stumpf Architecture."
