Hey party people !
The Sunday Beats shows were originally set out to play obscure and rare oldskool trax, but has since morphed into a kind of history of underground dance music.
We've had the Electro Funk & Hip Hop show, focusing on music from 1983-1988.
The Acid House show focused on all the squelchy 303 acid trax from 1988-1989.
This time we are going to delve into Hip-House.
Hip house emerged in the late 1980's, combining hip hop raps and energetic house beats and acid.
As people may know, I has a hip hop fan through the 80's until one Friday evening in 1988, I heard a Hip-House record on BBC Radio one [Fast Eddie - Hip House] - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpakN...
This track along with 'Yo Yo Get Funky' by Fast Eddie (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7v7Ui...) turned my head and I then discovered acid house music.
For this set, I'll play the first Hip-House trax I heard, some more underground trax and some of the commercial trax that hit the pop charts in 1989.
