This channel is the video archive of the Applied Evolutionary Epistemology Lab that was successfully part of the Center for Philosophy of Science at the Faculty of Science of the University of Lisbon, Portugal from 2012 until 2023.
At AppEEL, the aim was to advance the study of evolution from an inter- and transdisciplinary approach; and to identify how biological evolutionary theories can be applied to the epistemological, sociocultural and linguistic domains. The lab operated from within the general frameworks provided by philosophy of science and endorsed an applied evolutionary epistemological approach.
Financial insecurities made the Faculty of Science ostracize the Center for Philosophy of Science with the goal to shut down the Department for History & Philosophy of Science. Former AppEEL members today continue to collaborate and pursue their common goals outside these frameworks.
