In addition to getting these old VHS tapes or DVDs, I have been getting audio CDs and audio tapes.
I have been toying with the idea of creating a secondary channel that would only showcase concert performances (concert recordings of spring concerts and/or UIL concert contests, All-Region / All-State Band performances, etc.) from all the archiving I have been doing.
Would this be something that any of y'all would be interested in seeing/visiting?

TL;DR - New haul of media to transfer, unable to transfer the older media due to technology and money, fixed wonky VCR to continue archiving.
I have come across a huge archive from an area school and have been converting the VHS tapes from the haul.
Been struggling lately with my VCR player playing back audio but no clear video even after using video head cleaning cassettes, dust remover (compressed air can), and removing the casing to investigate.
Luckily, I found a quick fix after watching some YouTube videos on the subject... just taking some isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) onto a regular strip of paper, pushing the paper strip with some pressure on the VCR head, and manually spinning the heads.
Paper strip pulled up some darkened particles and now the video is showing once again.
The pictures show the haul of vhs tapes, audio reels, 16mm audio/video reels, CDs, cassette tapes, the VCR I use (Mitsubishi HS-U431), the inner workings of said VCR player, and the strip of paper I used to clean the VCR head. Note the small dark streaks on the white paper strip.
Now I can continue converting these old VHS cassette tapes and archiving them.
For the old 16mm video reels and audio reels, I cannot convert those on my own as I do not own those types of equipment and would not know how to even begin using these old pieces of technology, much less digitizing them.
As much as I want to convert these media (oldest video reel is 1968 marching contest; oldest audio reel is 1962 concert contest), it will cost quite a bit of money to send them to area video transfer companies and I am just doing all this as a hobby.
For now, these will have to sit and wait.
Thanks for the long read!

Back for my annual pilgrimage to the UIL Region 10 Marching Contest. At least there is a nice breeze but still quite warm.
Very impressed with a lot of the small classifications so far.
Best wishes to all competing bands today!

Hello everyone, I made the decision to pull down the latest video I posted of the Irion County HS Band from the 1989 UIL 1A State Marching Band Contest.
Unbeknownst to me and with the first comment on the video, the band director for Irion County, Osiel Hernandez, collapsed in the middle of the band's performance. This is very visible in the video and I did not want to upset any one watching the video.

Greetings everyone. I hope everyone is doing well.
Since I already have 1988 UIL SMBC 4A and 5A finals performances posted in multi-camera angle format, I thought I would continue with 1989 UIL SMBC 1A and 2A full preliminary performances.
I am getting to a point in the videos where there are multi-camera angles and press box only views.
Which would version would you rather have me edit and post?

Happy Bandtober y'all! I did travel to Port Neches for the annual Region 10 Marching Band Contest.
I do not live close to the area and drove 3+ hours.
I made it back home and am quite exhausted but am slowly editing the performances.
I have my basic camcorder but also an external microphone.
Because a cold front passed through during the night, the wind was quite strong throughout the day.
I will be spending most of the time trying to edit out the camcorder audio with the external microphone audio, which has reduced wind noise.
This may take a while to complete as I have full time job and can only edit during the late evenings.
It was neat chatting with people who came up to me asking if I was rocketfan86. Despite the cool and breezy weather, the right side of my face, legs, arms are crispy despite the sunscreen I applied.
If you are requesting for your school, I am going in performance order. Jasper always goes first since that is my alma mater.
Videos will be posted in chunks throughout the next few days.
Hope your bands did superiorly at all the contests this past Saturday. If they have not yet gone to contest, continue to have great rehearsals leading up to the big day.

Good day everyone. This is the first post I have done on this channel besides a video message ~5 years ago stating I would not be able to go to the state marching contest to record.
In the last couple of days, I have come across a huge archive of UIL Region 10 Marching Band Contest video tapes that go back to 1976, more UIL State Marching Band Contest videos from the early to mid 1980s, National Association of Military Marching Bands (NAMMB) full contest videos, and videos of the Texas TMEA All-State Bands.
It will take some time to digitize these vhs tapes but I will definitely have fun watching all these videos. There are roughly 80 tapes.
I still plan to go out to the Region 10 Marching Band Contest to document the bands in under a month from now.
Hope everyone is doing well these days and take care!

The mission of this channel is to be an archive for Texas UIL High School Marching Band Contests. The channel has grown past its initial purpose of providing UIL Region 10 Marching Band Contest performances.
_________________________________________________________
I've collected some videos of Texas UIL Region 10 Marching Band Contest Videos. Some go back almost 20 years while there are some more recent videos. It's interesting to see how marching bands have changed in South East Texas but some have changed for the better; some are even worse than before and some don't even exist anymore.
Also, I have posted some videos of our concert performances when i was a student at Jasper High School so feel free to take a look at those as well. Class of 2004!
If you have any marching band videos you are willing to make me a copy and give to me, I would gladly appreciate it. That way, I can continue to add videos onto this channel.
Thanks and Enjoy!
