Happy Fathers Day to all the hard working dads 😊
I'm spending the afternoon in the hot tub.
I've just finished making this wood fired hot tub and a full video is coming out shortly.

If you are looking at making strawberry jam try growing Red Cascade strawberries. They are small but very sweet and make the nicest tasting strawberry jam ever.. yummy 😋

Another beautiful sunset on our Off Grid property.
Makes me think of the old saying " Red sky at night, Shephards delight, red sky in the morning Shephards warning".

The Wattle trees are blooming like crazy on our Off Grid property.
This wattle is commonly called Oven Wattle, Ovens Wattle or Tumut Wattle.
Named in 1853 by botanist Ferdinand Von Mueller it is prolific in South eastern Australia.
It's actually a member of the legume family.
Its botanical name is Acacia pravissima. The pravissima is Latin for "Very Crooked" due to the way the leaves and plant grows.
Lovely to see the carpet of bright yellow flowers all over our property. The bees are having a great time.

This is a photo of one of the young wallabies that hangs around near our caravan. Because we keep our "house block" (as the area directly around the camp area is known) mowed short the new green shoots attract the kangaroos and wallabies very close to feed. It's an amazing sight at 5:30 in the morning walking out and seeing 22 wallabies and 12 kangaroos all feeding in the area. They are mostly carrying Joeys at the moment as it's coming up to spring and the little fellas climb out of mums pouch to feed off the young grass shoots. The country isn't for everyone but I love it as I was raised on a farm. An amazing sight to wake up to every morning though More soon from Andy at Aussie Homestead NSW Australia 🦘

Can you pick which of these three eggs is most likely to be born a rooster and not a hen?
If you said the middle one you'd be more than likely correct. It's not an exacting method but 99% of the time pointy eggs will give you roosters and rounder eggs will give you hens.
Has anyone used this method before?
Drop a comment if you have.

Great water saving idea for off grid properties. The water container is used to wash your hands and that water runs into the cistern saving water. What a great idea 💡

After a six hour drive, finally made it to our off grid property and it's icy cold here in the Warrumbungles at Coonabarabran. Got down to minus 1 degrees last night and a fine layer of ice on everything this morning. Brrr ❄️
Will do some short videos while I'm up here. Main priority is building the fence for the orchard to keep those pesky kangaroos 🦘 out.
More soon.
