I now describe myself as a ‘poetry diarist’. Most poems, near complete (us poets, we’re never too sure), some still in necessary progress (there must be palpable senses of progression).
I want it to feel organic, viewable, listenable of course, I want it to in some ways, ‘reach’. I’m well aware you can't reach everybody… but no harm trying. Reaching isn’t my main aim, but if connections happen, fab.
The work’s largely autobiographical and about stories (not just mine). I hope there’s colour, shade and a whole lot of surreality… maybe a few laughs.
Sometimes though ‘things’ (whatever those things), are never finished, sometimes you don't know when they are. I’ve a sneaky appreciation for unfinished, at home with juvenilia as doggerel… language creatively hosts many improvisationally thrilling moments.
Certainly with my post ‘Chloe Poems’ poems, I see myself more ‘n’ more, a haphazardly prolific, poetic diarist. All in all, a pot-luck channel of love, comedy and despair.
