Some parents have been asking me how to best support their children in the daycare and school languages without compromising the home languages. Here is a video I did on this topic, based on a webinar I held at my Academy.

Parents asked me this so many times: what are the "do's and don'ts" when raising children with multiple languages. I understand where they are coming from. We all don't want to make the same mistakes others did and we just want to make sure we are doing the "right" thing. But what works for one doesn't for the other, so, my response is always "well... it depends..." and I ask many many (many!) questions instead of giving answers or suggestions.
Nevertheless, I thought I'd just list up 10 of the things we should avoid – not only when raising children with multiple languages (you'll see...) but it works also for that topic.
I hope you like it.

As this is a topic that comes up regularly in my sessions with parents and also my free online meetings with parents, I wrote a post about it and made a video.

Many parents (me included!) can get really frustrated when their multilingual children are not responding in the expected (target) language...
There are some strategies, recommended by researchers, that are proven to be (more or less) successful.
In this video I explain them and tell you which ones to adopt with your youngest children (and why) and which ones we usually adopt with older multilinguals...
And I explain why the "minimal grasp" strategy is so misunderstood and misused...
Please let me know what you think, what your experience is with your children, what works or worked for you.

I've been asked this several times lately: how can we help our children become (nearly) "natively" fluent in our home languages when we are the only ones providing the input in that language?
I invite you to watch my video about this:

And... I had the pleasure and honor to talk with Natasha Winnard and Lena Lee about a topic that is often underestimated: the mental health of our children who grow up in different countries...
