Marking her as a pop culture icon. Her next album 1989 was her major transformation from a country star to a pop icon. After her album Red, she received criticism saying that she dated too much in her twenties. She released this album about being with her friends. The album broke records with hit singles like Blank Space. Post 1989 Taylor was caught up in a set of controversies marking her 2 year long hiatus. People assumed the career of Taylor was over but she returned strong to her revenge-themed album Reputation in 2017. Again in 2019 she returned to her bubbly genres with Lover. This washer first album she actually owned after a copyright battle with her previous record label. Again in the pandemic, Taylor released 2 surprise folk albums, Folklore and Evermore. In which Folklore won album of the year. She is the only artist to win album of the year in 3 totally different genres. Then as a way to have control' over her previous albums, she released her version of her albums Red and Fearless with never heard befor vault tracks. The all too well ten minute version of Red Taylor's version became the longest song to top the Billboard charts. Then in 2022 she released her album midnight's which absolutely broke the records and Spotify. The tour of the album, Eras became the highest grossing tour of all time in 2023.
