With a sound as brawny as his bulldozer driver's physique, Albert King's guitar seemed to ooze from note to note like a slowly spreading oil slick. Though he played exclusively with his fingers, the liquid quality of his lines recalls some of the music's leading slide stylists, most notably Robert Nighthawk. The style was evident on early-Sixties sides Albert made for Bobbin and King, but everything really came together beginning in 1966 when he signed with Stax in Memphis. Recording with backing by house rhythm section Booker T. and the M.G.'s, Albert combined heavily amplified blues/rock guitar leads with drummer Al Jackson's funky beats in a wholly natural, organic manner. The results are King's lasting legacy: "Born Under a Bad Sign," "Laundromat Blues," "Cross Cut Saw" and so on.
Eric Clapton pinched a great deal of Albert's "Cross Cut Saw" solo for his own guitar solo on Cream's "Strange Brew," and in fact Cream's entire Disraeli Gears album is known in certain circles as "the Albert King tribute" for its extensive borrowings. "

While Congress can't overturn the Supreme Court, we can provide carrots and sticks to prevent local governments from unfairly taking property from landowners.

“Be real, because a mask only fools people on the outside. Pretending to be someone you're not takes a toll on the real you, and the real you is more important than anyone else.”
