My wife and I appeared in court, again, today where the Magistrate ruled against the State application to have South African witnesses testify using video conference.
The State on Friday last week, was supposed to parade South African witnesses in Malawi Courts as ordered by the Magistrate in March 2021, but the witnesses did not show up.
In his ruling today, the magistrate underlined that it is mandatory, that witnesses come to Malawi and testify in person. This means that, the witnesses MUST appear in Malawi Courts and give their testimony orally, in person publicly. This is part of the constitutions right to a fair hearing.
My wife and I welcome the ruling because, after years of being accused without being tried in South Africa, we will, finally, face our accusers in the country. This was supposed to be done 3 years ago in South Africa but we had so many stories why witnesses could not show up in courts. Typical of unfair trial gimmicks!
Soon justice will prevail.

Today, my wife and I confidently appeared before the Malawi Magistrates court where we were expecting to finally face the South African witnesses that are opposing us in the ongoing trial. To my disappointment, however, we were told that the witnesses could not appear due to the following reasons:
Firstly, they claimed that there were no available flights from South Africa to Malawi. This statement is very untrue as my own lawyers from South Africa managed to fly into the country just a few days ago.
Secondly, they enunciated that, the witnesses failed to appear in the Malawi courts due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I do not deem this excuse to have any legal basis, seeing as though, both governments in question have put in place COVID-19 measures that have ensured the safe travels of citizens for the past months.
I am disappointed with this result because it is a repeat of events that have been taking place for the past three years when I was appearing before the South African courts for the same case. For three years they failed to bring witnesses through to testify against my wife and I, and today, they have done the same thing.
With that said, I still choose to place my trust in the Lord and I truly believe that one day, God will vindicate us from all the injustices we are facing.

For the seven years I was in South Africa, I made immense contribution to the economy of the country through over 10 000 international visitors that, each and every week, visited Gauteng Province because of me.
Hotels and lodges were always full in Pretoria. Transportation sector boomed. Small scale restaurants saw a giant reap.
But because I was a foreigner, no single South Africa media reported positive about that apart from pushing their hatred narrative against me.
I have only been in Malawi for 5 months, and its amazing how local media is able to quickly notice my contribution to the economy.
This is how we must build Africa.
We can differ in religion, but when it comes to development of Africa, we need to come together and lock hands.
