Lately, I've noticed that LIRR has been upgrading a ton of crossings in the last year or so, including Pine Neck Ave, one signal at S Ocean Ave, Bay Pointe Dr Moriches (Not Pictured), and another new WCH signal at Railroad Ave in Center Moriches (Also not pictured). With all these upgrades happening lately. Atlantic Ave is still incandescent. Also, the RACO bells at River Rd and Wading River Rd still remain

Pic 1: Pine Neck Ave East Patchogue new signals now has 2 mechanical bells (had only one before upgrade)
Pic 2: S Ocean Ave East Patchogue new signal
Pic 3: Mill Rd Manorville new signals installed in 2021 replacing 8 inch incandescent RACO signals with the RACO bell.
Pic 4: New reused WCH 2nd gen bell at Snedecor Ave in Bayport replacing the old mechanical bell that was there for around 20 years. I was filming Bayport Ave for the first time and I heard a different sounding bell so I went to check on it and found out they replaced the original bell and they installed a new relay case as well. So I went to film an update video of that today as well

Brand new mechanical bell installed at the Oakdale-Bohemia Rd railroad crossing in Oakdale. It was installed on the northern signal, replacing the older bell that must've died recently. The last time I filmed this crossing was with my NEG Safetran Type 2 E-Bell. It was over 90 degrees outside today, and I couldn't make it past 3 crossing videos because I started having a headache due to the intense heat

The different generations of the Safetran Type 2 and NEG electronic bells and how to tell the differences between them. This model of crossing bell was first manufactured in 2004. Here's some new info about these bells: From what I was told by a totally new YouTuber, ‪@brentj1987‬ , a Californian Union Pacific signal maintainer, is that Safetran Type 2 e-bells were actually made until February 2015 when NEG took over the design. From what he said, in 2015, NEG bought out the rights to the grade crossing bell model from Safetran to start manufacturing their own e-bell, and that's how NEG started making their e-bell. We now know the differences between the 2 models of this e-bell. This is new info that almost none of us ever knew about before until the last 2 days.

The 3 generations of the ASC Associated Signal Company electronic bell. These e-bells were made from the early to mid 90s to the early 2000s. They all have the same tone as the General Signals Type 1. We have none here in Long Island. On the LIRR, we have over 400 mechanical bells.

ASC 1st Gen (Square e-bell) (Early to mid 90s)
ASC 2nd Gen (Late 90s)
ASC 3rd Gen (Early 2000s)

A look at the only electronic crossing bell in Suffolk County and its a General Signals Type 2 (It's the last GS type 2 in Long Island). Also the only crossing in Suffolk to retain WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, the only crossing in Suffolk to have RECO LEDs and the only Suffolk county crossing to be owned by the NY&AR. It's located at the River Rd railroad crossing in Calverton NY (River Rd and Connecticut Ave). I wonder what days NY&AR trains come through this crossing because I want to get a video of this crossing in action in the future. Let me know in the comments when NY&AR trains go through here.
