Ritse's entry into the music scene is anything but typical. It wasn't a childhood dream to become an artist, but rather a car in Friesland and a group of musical friends. "When I was 18, I bought a little car. I was so happy with it that I wrote a song about it with my friends in Friesland." What started as a joke quickly took on serious proportions.
Although making music was never his dream – he had been skateboarding for thirteen years and wanted to become a professional, and he was also working hard as a model – it turned out to be his calling. In 2019, the next challenge came his way: Fokke Simons. After three successful years, the guys went their separate ways, and Ritse decided to continue his path as a solo artist.
When asked how he would describe his own music, there's really only one good answer: "Just Ritse. The Ritse sound." With influences from pop, rock, techno, and hardcore, and lyrics that all have a touch of humor, Ritse doesn't easily fit into one category.
