Hello all! I know I haven't posted for a long while. You would think that in retired life I would only be crocheting but as it turns out, my time has been spent traveling and fixing up our 100 year old farmhouse in Tennessee. The good news is, I finally finished the "Learning to Wing It" sweater while we were on a cruise through the British Isles which was perfect timing because 62 degrees in Scotland is far more likely to be sweater friendly than 90 degrees in Tennessee. I really love how it turned out and the fit is so flattering. I accidentally uploaded it as a full length video (because YouTube saw it as 3 min and 1 second...content creating is challenging) and then I re-uploaded it as a short so it could be on the playlist. But some people only like "long form" so I left it in both places. I hope this project gives you the courage to just go ahead and create things without patterns. It might take longer, but you will learn so much more about the process and I think, you'll get a better finished product. Enjoy!

Happy New Year! I am excited to announce that I am making some changes for 2025! First, I changed the name of our Facebook Group to match the name of this channel. As all things are, this channel has been a journey. I started making crochet videos during quarantine to help us all stay sane in crazy times and as much as I appreciate our humble beginnings, I think it's time to leave the old name (Ginell's Quarantine Crochet) behind us and keep the branding consistent. That may cause some of you to have trouble finding us since every single video references the old group name, so today I will go through every video and make a note that the group name has changed. Also, I have decided to start sharing our group members' work in our banner each month. I'm hoping that it will encourage y'all to share what you are working on with us, but also give credit to some of the most influential pieces or maybe even just the projects that really made me go "WOW". This month it is Angie, Bridget and Tracy! Congrats ladies! If y'all would like to learn about them and see what they have been posting, I have tagged them in the banner picture on the Facebook Group so you can click on them.

I am also starting a new journey in my content this month. It will be journey for all of us together and I am looking for a name. Check out the video with this picture of Paris from Gilmore Girls on it to see what I'm talking about.

Here's to 2025!

I wear the new Ribbed Bobble Beanie almost every day! I made 5 for Christmas gifts. My son loved the gray one AND wanted a purple one too so I just finished that and now I am making my 7th one for my daughter's best friend. The pattern is so darn easy!

It's already a free YouTube video

Should it also be a written pattern?

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I am home for the holidays and I finally got the time and space to record a full-length video!
This year has been such a challenge when it comes to video editing and now that I have a video for you in my regular format, I get to actually tell you part of the story while we crochet these super easy, beginner-friendly Ribbed Bobble Beanies. I made one for everyone in the family and I can't wait to share them. You actually get to see them before I give them because this video is coming out today! Thank you so much for your patience this past year as we have been learning to navigate our new normal now that we are technically homeless and traveling the world.

If you would like to see some videos of our travels this year and follow that journey, my husband and I have a channel together called @cooperlifeoutside where we are sharing our travels, our life in Tennessee and our love of nature and animals. As I get better at making those videos, we hope to also share how we retired in our mid 50's and how we budget this nearly full-time travel lifestyle.

I am also considering expanding my videos on this channel into possibly knitting, macrame and basket making... all of which I am a beginner at so we would be learning together. I would love to know your thoughts on all of that.

Meanwhile keep an eye out for my latest video uploading today.

Happy Holidays!

I decided to give macrame a try since it's all over my feed these days and it looks pretty fun. My first project was a sweet little tree ornament. It doesn't have anything complicated on it and it turned out to be the fastest ornaments I have ever made (and I've made a lot of ornaments over the years). I uploaded a short if anyone wants to try it. I assume I am late to the game on this craft. What was your first macrame project? Is there one you would recommend for a newby like me?

I'm back home in Tennessee for the holidays (after 3 months in Asia) and my sweet neighbor who spends much of her time helping others asked if I would make a pink beanie for her friend who is struggling right now. So of course I did, but I also made one for her because usually the people who spend all their time helping others don't spend much time thinking of what they need and I remember she didn't have a hat when it was snowing last winter and I also remember her saying how much she loves the color red. I'm hoping to give it to her today but I am betting she will be serving meals at her church all day. Yes, the red one is smaller than the pink one. She is petite. The pattern for these is the One-Hour Beanie video I made almost 4 years ago (can you believe it's been that long). These and the Twisted Neck Wraps are my go-to quick gift makes. The links are below.

Hello to all of you! I know, I've been gone for a while. Life has been a little crazy as I am trying to move my family across the country in the midst of high interest rates, and so many delays. I spent the last few months in Tennessee with my daughter, but am back in Oregon now as we make the big push to finally sell our house and get things moving. Nearly all of my yarn and materials are packed but I got myself supplies for 4 brand new projects! I have a summer one coming next week and two fall projects just around the corner, but my Facebook group asked me to teach the Mini Granny Stitch for Color Pooling so that one is first! It's all ready to go and will be released on Saturday 7.29.23 at 9am Pacific Time. I will be busy volunteering at the annual Summer Festival in my town, though, so I may not get a chance to post about it in the group until later so keep your eyes peeled for a notification. I'm very excited to get back to crocheting again!

Remember back when I made my first color pooling video and I said that someday I want to have a blog with a list yarns you can pool with? Well I am excited to tell you that the blog has been created! The post is actually meant to teach you how to find pooling yarn without having to rely on a list, but when I first started down the the Planned Pooling rabbit hole, the list I had helped a lot. Mine includes some photo samples if I could find them plus links to where you can buy some of the yarn too. It's a work in progress as I will be adding to the list as I find picture samples on the internet or create my own. Be sure to watch the video on how to determine if you can pool with any yarn you have in your stash or find in the wild too. Knowledge is power!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that I am one step closer to having all my patterns in written form for you for free! Today I started a blog. I have never been a blogger before so this is a new adventure for me. Learning software and how to get all those videos into written patterns should keep me challenged so please be patient with me as I learn the ways of the blog. Also, though, I would love your input. Like my videos, this project will be a work in progress. I will take all of your advice to heart and I am thankful every day that you all watch my videos and give me feedback along the way! My first blog post is basically just a little history about how I got here. Soon I will begin, watching my own videos, taking screenshots and creating patterns from my past, while also creating new content for you. Here is a link to the blog, please be sure to take a look, tell me what you think, and subscribe if written patterns are something you want.

Also, my next video is coming out soon! I will be teaching Perfect Planned Pooling the Easy Way! I have definitely become addicted to this technique and I can't wait to share it with all of you.
Here is a sneak peak
