Something came in the mailbox today, and I'd like to thank every single one of you for that !
Also don't forget to check out the Les Paul build video if you haven't yet ! The red special build is in the making, don't worry, it shouldn't take long this time (this build makes me overly emotional).

I ended up second place for the Great Guitar Build Off ! Thank you all for voting for me.
The guitar could be yours in about 2 weeks, because the auction is now live here:
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1545026150...
I always told myself that I would never sell anything (furniture, guitar, anything really) but this was a once in a life opportunity for me: supporting a cause that I hold close to my heart while doing something I truly love.
Half of the benefits are going to Infirmiers de rue, and I will not get 1 cent from the other half of the sale.
So don't make me regret my choice (yes, that's a threat).
Also, I won't be selling any other guitar for the next decade or so ... 🙂 Just think about that, and place your bids!
Also, the build video has reached 300K+ views now (which is still my least viewed build video ...#humblebrag), so thanks for that too !
Next videos are:
- a chair (yes, a little handmade chair for my toddler (or fun-sized people), using exclusively the offcuts from the One Piece Build, should be finished this week, I needed to build something meaningful to clear my head after all the messiness around the non-communication and constant changes of rules of the GGBO)
- build number 10 (which is almost done, just need to glue the set neck, install the hardware and the electronics, which arrived a bit late, I still have no idea what color I'm gonna dye the quilted maple veneer top)
- build number 11 (Les Paul style, Sapele carved body is finished, I don't know what species I'm gonna use for the neck yet)
They should all happen soon because I got pretty fast at editing now (anything seems easy to edit after the tutorial series).
After that, I have plenty of plans in mind (in a random order: short scale bass, full acoustic (watching you @CranmerGuitars ), red special (if and when I get to 100K subs), piccolo guitar, autoharp, new custom shape, possibly semi-hollow, acoustasonic style (or at least anything with piezzo PU), home wound pickups, speaker cabinet ... plus any idea that will randomly pop up in my head in the future... the list is endless, and life is too short).

Quick news!
I didn't announce it here yet, but I'll be an invitational participant in this year's edition of The Great Guitar Build Off ! The charity I chose is Infirmiers de rue (translated : street nurses).
For the challenge I decided to make a guitar out of one piece of cherry, no neck joint, that means the guitar was cut and carved out of the block.
It is almost finished now and you can check the day to day progress on my instagram : www.instagram.com/tchiksguitars
The build and video have to be available in a month, then the guitars will be auctioned on ebay, so stay tuned, this is the only guitar I'm ever gonna sell (for some years at least ) !
Also, just before I started this guitar (n°010) I started to build a set neck guitar with quilted maple veneer (n°009) with actual tonewood from madinter.com, the shop I talked about in my last video. It is also almost done, so brace yourselves for 2 videos before summer ! (In 4K!)
Also ! I started building a Les Paul inspired guitar, the body is completely done, I just need to build a neck, and there comes the third video !
I know I haven't published anything this year that isn't a tutorial, so I thought I'd make it up to you with these three :)

Part 3 is almost there !
I'm filming my current guitar build in 4K so I need to free up some space on my computer :)
If you haven't seen it yet, part 2/3 is already available here : https://youtu.be/JfjFFf22QyE
If you want to follow the guitar I'm working on at the moment, the work in progress pictures are on instagram.com/tchiksguitars
I now have two exciting news for you, but can't talk about it yet haha.
You guys stay safe !

Part 2 of the tutorial is in the making!
It's fairly long so I'll cut it in two parts as well, about 30 minutes each.
This first part is going to cover the body blank glue up, body contour, neck and headstock contours, fretboard shaping, slotting and radiusing, neck profile carving with transitions, fret installation, fretboard to neck glue up.
Next part will cover the neck alignment, neck pocket, control and pickup cavities, string through holes, fretboard to headstock transition, chamfering the body, sanding and finishing options, general tips for wiring (I won't go in depth because there's an awesome tutorial out there, I'll share the link), and fret leveling and crowning.
Don't miss part one if you haven't seen it yet! https://youtu.be/vjcmbmjL8qM
Also, if everything goes well, I'll make a mildly exciting announcement in a few days !

Hello World,
First part of the tutorial is out.
Hope you enjoy the video and that by the end of it, you'll be convinced that you too can make a guitar, it has been my purpose all along. Second part should take a lot less time as I don't have to actually shoot anything :)

You've asked for it (most of you :p ) so here it is.
Same video, with audio comments !

Would you like a second version of the One Hand build with some audio comments so you have a better idea of what I'm doing ?
Also, the first part of the tutorial is almost done. It's about 22 minutes long and will cover the tools needed (hand tools mostly), the hardware and electronics you should buy, the wood options, the plans (how to find them, what to do with them), the dimensions of the milled timber for the three components (if you wanna mill it yourself or ask the wood store to do it for you), as well as a few general considerations about a first guitar project.
It's very clear now that the tutorial, at least this part, is aimed at absolute beginners (as in " I don't know what a chisel is, and I have the dexterity of a dead tree ", a.k.a "me, 3 years ago" ).
In the second part I'll take you inside the workshop by showing you the extra footages I didn't show in the movie. They're less glamorous but show in detail exactly what went on in this build, so you can replicate that at home.

The tutorial is on its way, it's gonna take a lot more time and energy than anticipated. Since it is likely going to be my first and only tutorial, I'm going to take my time and make it right.
I think it's going to be in two parts at least, given the amount of informations I have to share (I'm aiming the tutorial at absolute beginners).
We'll see.

Hi there, welcome to my channel.
I'm a 34 year old self taught amateur woodworker from Brussels, Belgium.
I started woodworking in June 2017, and made my first guitar in September 2019.
My day job has nothing to do with woodworking, or making guitars, or anything artistic really.
My grandpa was a cabinet maker and woodworking teacher and my dad works in the construction... but that's about it, I've never touched a woodworking tool before the age of 31, and I hope that knowing that will inspire you to try new things!
I learned woodworking by watching youtube videos, and reading a few books, but mostly by practicing, experimenting, and solving problems.
This channel is meant to be a contribution to the youtube woodworking community, without which I wouldn't be making anything at all.
If you like my builds, follow me on www.instagram.com/tchiksguitars
PS: I don't sell anything, even though I find your offers very flattering :)
