I really enjoy making video essays, but they do take some considerable time and effort. So, I'm thinking about diversifying the content here on Thought & Word by sprinkling in book reviews too! (I am an English teacher after all...) What do y'all think?

Over the past six years since I started Thought & Word, it's been an honor and delight to have an audience like you that enjoys video essays for the eclectically curious. Having an authentic audience is a great creative motivator, but I also believe that it comes with a responsibility to be more true to myself and what I desire this channel to be. This is why I've deliberately never self-promoted in any of my videos, asking people to "like and/or subscribe." It's also why I've never accepted any sponsorship offers from companies. I don't think of Thought & Word as a business. If anything, this channel is like an extension of where I go to work everyday—a classroom. It's a place for conversation and learning.
In that spirit, I want to include other voices to share their thoughts and words with this wonderful authentic audience—voices from my own classroom. Sprinkled in with my own pieces, I'll also be sharing video essays made by students as featured guests on the channel. The first of these videos will be arriving soon, with my student, Landon's, essay "How Omori Unravels Emotion."
