As the front man for the Hollywood Fats Band (1976-1980), Al Blake and the band took '40s and '50s blues, swing, boogie-woogie and jazz and combined these classic styles with an "in the moment" exciting modern edge. In the process they created some of the best and most transformational music of its kind to be played in the last 45 years.
Blake's primary focus since the '90s has been to go back and explore blues at its true sources and forge a musical vision that is grounded in the styles of the '30s, '40s and early '50s. The exceptional quality and depth found in his music here could only come from years of playing experience and digging and searching deep below the surface of the vast and amazing blues lexicon to find his own voice.
