The best way to strategically build a career is to accomplish one major SMART Goal per year. Imagine if in year 1 you obtained a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, year 2 you were promoted at work to manager, and year 3 you earned a bachelors degree. Now do this for 20 years and see what type of momentum you create in your career.
