Bonne Fête Nationale!! (The French don't call it Bastille Day, BTW) Performed on an English instrument; it's spine-tingling, nevertheless) watch video on watch page

Perhaps the world's most famous-- and dramatic -- organ stop: the State Trumpet at Big John in NYC. It's a full city block away from the main organ, and this recording is mic'ed at the main organ, so you don't get quite the effect you'd get sitting in the nave.
It's been out of commission for several years (due to construction work on the cathedral structure), and won't be back in service for about a year. It's well worth a trip up to Morningside Heights at the northern end of Central Park.

Organophile Alert: Maybe the most ethereal music ever written for the organ, and the organ at St. John the Divine -- in its overwhelming space -- is the perfect instrument for it. In fact, this is the very first piece I ever heard played at Big John, over 50 years ago. Quite an experience watch video on watch page

This is an effort to spread the gospel of the King of Instruments -- with some occasional choral music thrown in.
