Hi everyone! Sorry I had to take down my Taipei food tour part 1 cuz it got a copyright claim due to a song that I used in the video. I'm gonna fix it and have it reuploaded tomorrow (Thurs 3/21). Apologies for any inconvenience ❤️

Happy Mother’s Day to my forever eating buddy 🥰💕
I wouldn’t be where I am today without my mom. She has been my biggest supporter (along with Bird) throughout this journey of being a content creator. From always making time in her busy schedule to film with me, to rewatching my videos on repeat, to never pressuring me to go back to a tech job when I felt down about my channel — she has always supported me from day 1. I’m forever grateful that I have such an amazing, silly, smart, kind mom who also shares my passion for food ❤️

THANK YOU FOR 500K SUBSCRIBERS!!!!!!! 😭❤️

almost 4 years ago, if i told my working-at-a-9-5-tech-job self that i'd be where i am now… i honestly wouldn't believe you.
it was 2018 when I first started my channel. i remember daydreaming in my cubicle about creating content for a community that i love, bringing joy & happiness to people through food, sharing my favorite local restaurants, etc for a living but that dream felt so far and out of reach.

i spent 2019 traveling and creating content, posting 6x/week on ig and 2x/week on youtube, as well as taking any freelance work i could get. it was a really fun time grinding, making memories, and feeling like i was pursuing my dreams.

but even after all the grinding, being consistent for a whole year, uploading over 100 yt videos, etc. my channel saw very little growth. i couldn't even start working on a video without feeling like a failure and having a breakdown.
i saw my peers get pushed in the youtube algorithm while it seemed like the algorithm hated me lol. even though i followed every single thing that you're "supposed" to do as a small creator- be consistent, optimize videos, SEO, tags, all of it.

it felt like my hard work was for nothing and my dreams would never happen. going into it, i didn't even see failure as an option. i 100% believed that if i did all the right things and put my head down and do the work, then i would succeed. so when that wasn't the case, i didn't even know what to do. i just knew i needed a break.

it wasn't until the pandemic that i started feeling good enough to start uploading again. i would post 1 video per week instead of 2 and that helped me focus and make better videos. i started promoting my yt videos on tiktok which actually helped my channel gain some traction for the first time. i hit 10k subscribers after 2 years & making ~130 videos and that was honestly such a huge accomplishment for me.

when i hit 100k a little over a year later, it was like a pinch me moment. it honestly didn't even feel real bc it was something i always dreamed of, like an unrealistic goal that i really didn't ever think would happen. so the fact that it actually did was so crazy to me.

after i hit 100k, many people around me would say "1 million next!" or "on ur way to 1 mil!" and that still to this day doesn't register in my mind because when i started, my goals for myself were simple and not super analytics-motivated. i just wanted to create content and share my love of food with the world, and hopefully find a food-loving community along the way. that's what motivated me to start and if i could do that for a living, that would be a dream come true.

i wanted to share/recap my journey bc i feel like this stuff is not talked about enough. especially right now, many people get "overnight" success on social media like gaining 100k on instagram in a month or 1m on youtube in a few months. but i feel like i never hear about the struggles and hard work that were put into it.

all that to say, when i say that i never expected to be here and i'm grateful beyond words, i truly mean it. through all the milestones that i've crossed, i ALWAYS remember what it took for me to get here and i'm still in shock that i get to do this every day. so seriously. thank you ❤️
