Hi everybody,
have you ever participated in a photography challenge? For me, it was the first time just recently. And it happened because the awesome β€ͺ@flora.k‬ reached out to me and proposed to challenge ourselves with a little project. Flora is a great photographer who also has an awesome YouTube channel. So in case you haven't come across her channel yet, I highly advise you to check it out! In her most recent video you can also learn more about the photography challenge we did together. Once again, thank you for inviting me in on this project, I had a blast! πŸŒ™

Exciting news: I have landed in Japan today and will be traveling through the country for the rest of the month. It's been a big dream of mine for a long tome to come back to Japan one day to take photos. And I cannot believe I am really here right now! Of course, I brought tons of film, will take plenty of images and also work on some video for the channel. But if you want to get some impressions of my journey in real time, you should check out my Instagram since I will be posting a lot about it in my story there:Β

So, be prepared for some camera hunting, nerdy Japan film content but of course also food heaven and all the touristy activities in between. I am looking forward to the next weeks of this trip and (at least virtually) bringing you along! πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅β™₯️

Hello everybody,
I have some exciting news:

I will be hosting a workshop in Berlin in cooperation with @aperturefilmlab on September 16th! In fact, I will be hosting two workshop on the same day, one starting at 3pm (BOOKED OUT) and one starting at 10am (SPOTS AVAILABLE). The workshop will be about the art of storytelling in street photography. I will share some of my methods and techniques on what to look out for on the streets as well as how to convey meaningful stories with your street images. It will be paired with some psychological knowledge about how humans perceive, analyze and interpret scenes and images. The workshop will consist of two parts: ca. 1,5 hours of fundamental theory input + ca. 1,5 hours of practice where we go out to shoot together.

In case you haven't seen it yet: I will be hosting a community photowalk in Berlin on March 4th, starting at 10:30 am. It will be a relaxed hangout - simply walking and taking some photos together, chatting and maybe grabbing a drink or a snack at the end. I would love to meet you all in person, so I would be grateful for anybody who would like to join! I will keep you posted about the details (e.g. meeting spot, walking route in case you want to join later, etc.) on Instagram, so make sure to follow me there (www.instagram.com/karinmajoka/) for updates.

Hello friends!
A little update from Porto for the people who joined the livestream (and of course for everybody else interested): This is all the equipment I packed for my holidays in the end.
I had to choose my Vanguard bag over the K&F Concept backpack since it was too big for the strickt hand-luggage policy of the airline I flew with. Other than that I stuck to most of my initial thoughts on packing - Leica M6 + 35mm + 15mm, Yashica T4 and mainly color film. I did not bring the Silbersalz films though because I would rather save it for my XPAN. Instead I fueled up on some more Kodak Gold + Kodak Portra. The Instax square sneaked itβ€˜s way into my bag last minute as well, but I am not too mad about it.
Thanks for the help and fun get-together the other day! I will go out and shoot some film now - hope you get the chance to do so as well, wherever on the globe you currently are! 🌱☺️

In case you have missed this: It's still 6 months for Christmas to arrive, but Santa's elves are already hard at work preparing a new color film for all the good film people out there! Santacolor 100 is a new film that will be on the market soon. I was lucky enough to try out two beta rolls before the release and have to say that the colours of this film stock simply blew me away! A video about this film stock is coming soon - but in case you are already curious you should check out their campaign to learn more about the film and get your hands on some rolls as long as you still can:

THIS IS CRAZY! People often say 'it's just a number', but when I think about the fact that there is a face behind each and every of these numbers I almost cannot believe it. 10k! THANK YOU for all the support, the helpful and inspiring comments, the tipps and tricks and the engaging conversations I got to experience over the course of this YouTube journey so far.

This little milestone happened surprisingly fast and was rather unexpected. Lately I was spending some quiet days in the middle of nowhere, but have recorded a bunch of new videos just waiting to be edited. Once I am back I would like to make a Q&A in some weeks - therefore, shoot me your questions! 🌱

Unfortunately I got sick and did not have the chance to work on anything at all the last couple of days - therefore the next video will be a bit delayed. Life sometimes makes us slow down a bit, which is absolutely fine. However, there are several new videos either in the making or in the planning, so stay tuned. I hope you are having a great start into the new week, stay creative and keep on shooting! (The image is a a little sneak peek from one of the future videos to come)

Today it's exactly one year ago the attack in Hanau (Germany) happened, where a right-wing extremist murdered nine young people. My friend Jim Reed (@The Quite American) made a project in honour of the victims and survivors that were involved in the attack by telling the powerful story of Vili Viorel Paun - a young man who tried to stop the attacker but ultimately lost his life. Jim voices this story with great sensitivity and respect. It's a story that is hard to hear - but has to be heard. It has to be told and it has to be heard in order to stop racism and discrimination. Therefore, please head over to @Invisible Pictures Germany and listen.

Let's kickstart the new year with some good old memories about the prior ones! Today's video is something very special and something very close to my heart: a memory video about my time living and traveling in Norway. From mid 2017 to mid 2018 I have been living in Oslo, Norway, and not a single day passes by without remembering my time there. Back then I was just starting out in photography and videography but wanted to document my journey in form of photos and videos. Now, finally the time has come where I reviewed all the old material I had from this journey and take you along the ride. (By the way: joining the students' photo club in Oslo back in 2017 is where all the love and passion for analog photography started!)

Thank you for your continuous support in 2020 and of course - HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all! Never forget to make memories, express yourselves and be the creative persons you all are.
