The Untold Story of Howie Long|Raiders History

When Howie Long was inducted into the Hall of Fame in July 2000, he reflected on his achievements and his place in the history of professional football. Long became only the eighth athlete in his position to be honored with inclusion in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, being the 171st player to receive this distinction. This is remarkable, considering that more than 18,000 men had played in the National Football League up to that point, and among all these players, Long had the honor of being recognized with this award.
