About
Hello, my name is Anantha Rao from India. I was a national-level gymnast and started gymnastics when I was 9.
I have performed 15 times at the national level and in many state-level competitions. I have won 3 silver and 2 bronze medals at the South India level. But unfortunately, in October 2010, during the state-level sports meet, I was performing a floor exercise called a somersault. I landed on my neck, which completely injured my spinal cord.
At that moment, I thought I was on my deathbed as I could not even get up. JSS Hospital declared that my spinal cord was completely damaged. But later, HCG Hospital provided me with stem cell therapy treatment, and after that, I was able to get up and shift to a wheelchair.
Now, I am playing para table tennis for IOB and dreaming of winning an Olympic medal in para table tennis.
I am now married to Chandraprabha.
