A fab evening going to The Proms in person. The National Youth Orchestra were in thrilling form under the wizard-like baton of Dalia Stasevska, with a brilliant programme of John Williams’ Star Wars suite featuring music from more recent scores along with the famous title sequence, Caroline Shaw’s “The Observatory” (new to me), and finishing with one of the most influential pieces for any Space-themed movie or series, Holst’s The Planets. My son asked which was my favourite movement, an impossible question to answer, but I told him that I loved Venus and Uranus, particularly as I played the piece on timpani (along with Wayne Marshall) with Chethams Senior Orchestra in 1976/7? Check it out on BBC Sounds or the iPlayer, and pay close attention to the French Horn solo in the Star Wars suite - beautifully played by my friend’s daughter Robyn.

Fabulous to be interviewed by Nick, Paulee and Rob @sonicstate about my keyboard and synth journey with Level 42 and @officialwallybadarou - unstable MiniMoog tuning, Prophet 5 programming, synth brass, banks of synths, adapting from the studio to the stage and other stories. watch video on watch page

Super proud to have been a guest of @gillespetersonww and to play these stripped-down tunes with @yolandacharlesmusic on bass and John Sam on drums, and to pay tribute to my parents’ musical heritage. I need to take this band out on the road! watch video on watch page

I do these stretches most mornings. They take 10 minutes, so they’re easy to fit in to the morning schedule. Thanks Lucas Rockwood at @YOGABODY.Official watch video on watch page
