The beloved musical, written by Freddie Santos is based on the cantata by Cam Floria, “Joseph, Whatever Happened to the Dreamer?”, which was first staged at the St. Theresa’s College of Cebu Auditorium in 1989. The modest staging was such a hit that the show quickly snowballed and had numerous runs nationwide. It played at the Meralco Theater, Cebu Plaza ballroom, Waterfront ballroom, Cebu Coliseum, the Ultra, San Agustin Gym in Iloilo, Bacolod Convention Center, Davao Convention Center, Dagupan Coliseum, Cuneta Astrodome, and even had a television airing. Its record-breaking ten-year run was capped with a staging in 1999 starring Gary Valenciano as Joseph. There were even succeeding school runs in the early 2000s.
