That wonderful feeling of a freshly washed white mane and tail! (And by white, I mean off white. Okay, yellow. But they're slightly less yellow now!) And It's supposed to rain tomorrow, so I'm sure she'll get all muddy and this will last all of 2 seconds.😭

Today we lost a wildlife conservation and ethology superhero, Dr. Jane Goodall. A zoologist, primatologist, conservationist, and environmentalist.
Jane Goodall has been a hero of mine for as long as I can remember. I have always been so amazed by her passion and commitment for learning about and teaching others about animals. As a child I wanted to follow in her footsteps and become a zoologist. Though my path ended up shifting, I have continued to look up to her and admire her work, and I have tried to embody many of the values she held.
"The least I can do is speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves." - Dr. Jane Goodall
This is something that I try to do with every post and every video I make. This quote is just one of the many things that Jane said that inspired me to use my voice to make change. Jane Goodall was one of the most outspoken advocates for animal welfare, and she emphasized the importance of having compassion in working with and studying animals. She was a trailblazer in more ways than one, and completely changed the way we look at so many animals today.
It's important that we remember everything she taught us, and everything she worked so hard for. We have one planet. One home. And we share this home with so many other wonderful creatures who's lives are at risk because of the damage we have caused to their habitats. We owe it to them to be better. We owe it to them to remember the importance of heart and compassion.
I know that Jane Goodall's legacy will live on. She will never be forgotten, and neither will the impact she had on all of us. Thank you Jane 🤍

Let's deep dive into equine stereotypic behaviours! New video up now :)
The one thing I don't cover in this video is a potential genetic component to cribbing. I didn't want the video to go on forever so I didn't include that, but if there is interest, I could definitely make a short video on that as a part 2. :)

Polly and I hope you’re all having a lovely morning, afternoon, or evening, whatever it is right now where you are😊
And for those of you in Southern Ontario, we hope you’re all okay after the CRAZY storm we had last night and this morning. I know where I am there are some flooded roads and a lot of tree branches down, so stay safe!
Polly is always a little on edge after crazy weather like that, so instead of sticking to the plan and working on feet handling, we just did a little hand walk and a tiny bit of pole work. She was much happier to keep her feet moving than stand still.
Remember it’s always okay to change your training plans for the day if it’s not the best option for you or your horse. Every day is a different day, and both of your moods will shift day to day, set yourself up for success. Don’t be afraid to make things super easy if one of you is having an off day. Sometimes just hanging out and enjoying each other’s company is the best thing to do🤍

Hi everyone. Several people have brought to my attention that Raleigh Link gave me a shoutout at the end of one of her recent posts. The context of that post has raised questions for some regarding my views on recent events, and they have been asking for clarity.
I appreciate Raleigh giving me a shoutout for my content and suggesting that people might appreciate my videos.
The placement of the shoutout at the end of a post that many have experienced as primarily political in nature has raised questions for some people about my political views -- specifically about Charlie Kirk. I wish that were not the case, because although I hope my values shine through in everything I do, I try to stay away from politics on Kat's Kreatures.
However, because you have asked, I will say this: I am against violence of all kinds, and I believe political violence has no place in our society. It must be condemned in all its forms.
I do not share Charlie Kirk's political views, nor his beliefs regarding marginalized groups. I strongly disagree with the positions I saw him take and I believe those positions have caused genuine harm to many. But nobody should be the target of violence for their views.
My channel is meant to be a place for anyone who wants to learn about animals and is concerned with animal welfare, no matter their politics. I will continue to try to keep my focus there, and I hope I can play a role in building a broader community of concern and support for the animals we all love.

Hey guys! I need to correct myself on something I said in my video on 3 legged horses.
A couple of people have brought to my attention that I made an anatomical mistake when comparing the equine leg and foot to the human hand. Not sure how I messed this up lol, but I think it's always important to acknowledge when I make mistakes, and correct them as best as possible!
I said that the joint at the tip of your finger (right below your fingernail) is equivalent to the horse's fetlock. This is wrong. The human joint equivalent to the fetlock is the joint that connects the finger to the rest of the hand (also known as the "upper knuckle"). The pastern joint is equivalent to the middle knuckle of the finger, and then the coffin joint is equivalent to the joint at the end of your finger (the one just below the fingernail). Hope this clears up any confusion, and to those of you that pointed this out, thank you! Please correct me when I make mistakes, as they will happen from time to time. I do my best to prep for my videos, but sometimes I slip up and make mistakes, since I am human. (And a burnt out student/pet parent/content creator😂)
