After being commissioned to design and build the new Stadelhofen Station - the key city-centre node in Zurich's suburban rail network in 1983 that Santiago Calatrava launched Calatrava Valls S.A.
Since then, Calatrava has opened many offices around the world and designed many projects such as the railway train stations in Liège, Belgium and Reggio-Emilia, the Bac de Roda Bridge in Barcelona, the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio De Janeiro, the Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport TGV Railway Station, Sondica Airport in Bilbao and the Tenerife Opera House in the Canary Islands.
