hi hello! As many of y'all likely know, Woo Can Cook is RIGHT on the brink of getting our very first brick and mortar space open here in the Oakland Bay Area next month. As you might imagine, this enormous logistical and financial endeavor has been pretty time consuming and, (because of this) it means you may start seeing fewer recipe videos on this channel. BUT! Fear not! I do still plan on endeavoring to bring you at least SOME new food content in the coming months, and in the interim weeks between those new recipes, I’d also love to know what else you all would want to see on this channel? Short form informational rants (like that MSG video)? Travel content? BTS at the pop-up and/or kitchen? Vote or comment below with other ideas!

hello hi friends! here it is! After literally planning for almost an entire year, I'm very excited (and a little terrified...? Mostly excited. I mean. let's call it 60/40?) to announce that we have a space secured for Woo Can Cook's first physical location!
Before all of this though, I'll also be raising some money to help bring this vision to life with a small crowdfunding campaign. There's lots of cool rewards that I think a lot of folks have been waiting for like t-shirts, aprons, cooking classes, and catering for your next house party.

hi hello friends! So. Probably the question I find myself answering the most on this channel is "do you still play music? when can we see ur band??"
Annnnd YES! I do, and tonight is the night that you can see our band Trace Repeat. 8PM at the Ivy Room in Albany. Come say hi and see if I remember how to play shows cause fun fact, this is the first public show that Trace Repeat has played since 2020. wowowow.

hi hello friends! so, this is pretty much absolutely terrifying to be writing on the internet, buuut here it goes! After many many MANY months of planning, we've finally laid some early plans to open the first Woo Can Cook physical location at the Prescott Market food hall in West Oakland next year! We'll be serving the same wok fried rice that you know us for, as well as a much more expanded menu of taiwanese small bites thanks to the brand new kitchen that we'll have available.
Before all of this though, I (Wesley) am to raising some money to help us bring this vision to life with a small crowdfunding campaign coming later this winter. If you might be interested in an early peak at the campaign (as well as maybe giving some feedback on things like perks, reward tiers, and just generally how awkward I am without a guitar or a wok in front of me) let me know!

Hi hello friends, exciting news announcement! Woo Can Cook will be taking over as the in-house permanent pop-up at Wondrous Brewing in Emeryville! Starting in February, come find us Thursday-Sunday serving fried rice, noodles, and other fun Taiwanese small bites to pair with the fantastic beer and incredible dining space at Wondrous.
This also means that we are once again expanding our team! We’ll be looking for help both running our front of house register, as well as poking around for an additional chef or two to help toss the wok 🤘🏽🤘🏽. If you or someone you know is interested in this, please reach out! No experience necessary, just be a nice human with an interest in making nomz.

I’ve got a fun special 10k celebration release in the works for next week, but in the meantime, I just wanted to come here and express my gratitude for all of the wonderful humans that have joined this weird internet journey we’re on.

Hi, Wesley here! Woo Can Cook is a series where we reproduce fun foods and recipes from my childhood. Some of them are authentically Chinese and/or pan-Asian, but a lot of them are odd Americanized versions that I inherited from my parents and grandparents while growing up in the Bay Area/California.
I'm also the lead singer/songwriter/guitarist of the Oakland funk band Trace Repeat, and wrote the beats used in all of these videos, under the sister channel "Woo Cooks Beats." NOT a chef. Just an unemployed COVID era musician that cooks a lot.
