The Respite for All Foundation provides training, support, and resources to inspire and sustain volunteer respite communities that serve individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementia disorders, along with their care partners. Programs usually have one or two paid staff members that are supported by a trained and engaged volunteer community which provides cognitively enriching activities and meaningful interactions with participants while offering care partners a much-needed break. In addition, the RFA model incorporates service projects to provide a restored sense of purpose for participants in early to middle stages after diagnosis. Programs operate from 10am-2pm for people living with dementia and trained volunteers to enjoy games, art, music, exercise, shared meals, and service projects. The RFA model doesn’t provide a cure but instead introduces relationships for healing and fosters social connection for all involved – participant, care partner and volunteer.
