Cactus Jaw was a great little hybrid metal band that came to be in 1996-97 as a result of one guy's genius and while their stay on the D/FW music scene was brief, it carried great impact. Johnny Richards, "Bicks@Six" everyone called him, had this great idea. He would combine the immense talents of Lance Harvill, a GIT-educated singer/guitar player, with those of Shawn Mathews, or "ST" as Dime called him, an equally-talented singer/guitar player and build a powerful, melodic band with two singers around a rhythm section that included himself and a bass player everyone called Chaze. They began rehearsing at a little bar in Arlington run by Randy Bell and before too long they had written a set's worth of original material. They began playing shows in early 1997 and continued until almost 1998. Along the way, they recorded some great music and entertained a lot of folks.
