Wow, so I just hit 10k subscribers this weekend!

I'm extremely grateful to everyone who has watched my videos, interacted with them, followed me on this platform and others, and reached out with words of support. When I started making documentary-style videos for this channel, I had no idea whether people would be interested in the niche topics I wanted to make videos on, but with my most recent video just pushing past half a million views, it seems at least some of you are :)

Thanks again for all your support, and I'll see you in my next video, hopefully out soon!

Wishing the duck fam a very Merry Christmas! Thank you all for joining me on my YouTube journey this year, and I hope you get the chance to enjoy a great day of celebration today!

In the words of the Filthy Frank Kenya Song:

"Omwana atuzaalidwa, Omulenzi atuweleddwa"

or, in English:

"For unto us a child is born,
unto us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
- Isaiah 9:6

I hope you've all had a great 2024, and wishing you all the best for 2025!

(And with any luck, my next documentary will be out before the end of the year 😉)

Wow, time flies! It has been exactly one year since the infamous lostwave song, the "Filthy Frank Kenya Song" was found on this channel! This find is generally regarded as the beginning of the so-called "Golden Age" of lostwave, as documented on the Lostwave Wiki: lostwaves-finest.fandom.com/wiki/The_Golden_Age_of…

A quick recap: On December 3rd, 2023, I had posted a video called "The Search for the Filthy Frank Kenya Song ". This video went into the story behind the lost song, proposed some ideas about how it may eventually be found, and offered a $300 bounty to anyone who could find it.

A mere 7 hours (!) later, a viewer of mine, the legendary ‪@damnpeggy‬, sent me a link to a video on YouTube. Unbeknownst to anyone, the song had been sitting on YouTube the entire time, and simply required a well-crafted search to find. Excited to share the news, I stayed up all night making another video about how the song had been found. You can watch the video documenting this historic moment below.

After uploading this video, I received a large wave of viewers and subscribers coming from the channels of both Justin Whang and blameitonjorge, who covered the story on their respective channels. I am extremely thankful to them for sharing my video with their audiences, and especially to their viewers, many of which saw my video and a large number of which subscribed.

Thank you to all of you who have joined me on my YouTube journey over the past year; I will be forever grateful for your continued support, as I diligently work on my next documentaries, which I hope will not disappoint!

Much love,

Hi all, it's been a while! Just letting you know that, while I'm still hard at work on my next documentary, in the meantime, I've posted a short unboxing video on my second channel. Check it out if you're keen!

Hi all,

Upon further reflection, I'm going to be making some slight changes to how I determine which content goes on my main channel (this channel) and my secondary channel (‪@nbduckman2‬).

When I first announced my second channel, the plan was to leave the first channel for long-form documentaries, and the second channel would be for everything else. Yesterday, I uploaded a short video about some updates relating to Cold Ones' Grog. Since the video wasn't a documentary, I put it on the second channel. As it was uploaded to a channel with very few subscribers, the result was that almost no one saw that video. This didn't come as a surprise to me, as that channel has a much smaller audience.

However, I soon came to the realisation that this video may contain information that a decent portion of you may be interested in. By uploading it to the second channel, I didn't even give the majority of my subscribers the choice as to whether they want to see the video or not. So, I decided to announce the video via a community post on the main channel - but then realised that kind of defeats the purpose of uploading the content to a separate channel anyway.

The original intention for the second channel was so that I could leave the main channel for longer, higher-quality videos. However, upon further consideration, my priority has always been sharing what I consider to be interesting information with all of you, my subscribers and supporters; optimising the algorithm to favor long-form content on my main channel is not really important to me at all.

So, based on this realisation, my upload policy for the two channels will now be as follows:

‪@nbduckman‬: Content my general audience will probably be interested in.
‪@nbduckman2‬: Content my general audience probably isn't interested in, but content I still want to make regardless.

The only major consequence from this change to my upload policy is that you might occasionally see some shorter videos appear on my main channel. However, they'll almost always be related to topics I've covered on the main channel, so hopefully they'll be of interest to most of you. If not, I promise not to be offended if you choose not to watch them :)

As a result of this change, I will shortly be removing the Grog video from my second channel, and re-uploading it on the main channel; my apologies if you've already watched the video. I will also be uploading a new video to the second channel shortly, for my subscribers over there.

I apologise for this change in the upload policy. YouTube is still a learning experience for me, and I appreciate you all bearing with me (and putting up with the post/video spam) as I try to figure this out.

Much love,

Hi all!

Just wanted to extend a big thank you to all of my new subscribers, who have come to my channel from my recent Filthy Frank merch video. I honestly thought a video on a niche topic such as that would maybe reach a few hundred people. Never would I have dreamed that video would garner as much attention as it did, and I'm extremely grateful for all of you who watched it, subscribed or left a comment, it really means a lot to me.

I plan to make an announcement soon (in the form of a video) about my future video plans for this channel, which will include more documentaries just like that video. In the meantime, you can find me on X/Twitter, or you can come and say hi in my Discord server:

Hi chaps, sorry for the lack of updates for a while! I've not only been busy with IRL stuff, but I've also been hard at work trying to complete my next documentary! (And yes, it is a documentary this time - not another collection video.) I don't want to reveal the exact subject just yet, but as a teaser, this image should give you a bit of a clue :)

The video should drop in a week or two (I'm pretty bad at estimating exact dates...) and will be available at least 24 hours earlier for channel members.

In the meantime, I'm trying to be more active on Twitter (X?) so please chuck us a follow on there if you're interested in staying up to date:

Thanks for your continued support!

Unreleased Grog acquired!

Grog is a beverage produced by the team behind the YouTube channel Cold Ones. The two new flavours of Grog, Nashi Pear and Mandarin, launch on June 6th, but certain stores in Australia accidentally started selling them ahead of schedule!

Looks like I'm doing a video review this weekend! 🔥

Hi all! Just wanted to give you all a quick channel update:

- Tomorrow, I'll be uploading the first of my Japan vlogs, that a few of you have been asking for. Don't worry, my channel isn't turning into a travel channel - I'll just be uploading these occasionally, in between the regular programming of documentaries on obscure topics :)

- The new flavours of Cold Ones' Grog just "leaked" - there are two: Nashi Pear and Mandarin. Some stores have mistakenly started selling them before the official release. They are being sold in a special pack containing all five flavours. And of course, I will review both of them as soon as I can get my hands on them!

- Work on my next documentary is underway. Despite my plans to venture into other areas, due to some interesting information coming to light, this will be yet another documentary involving the weird intersection of two of my interests: Joji and Lost Media. I can't say much more at this stage, but stay tuned!
