I spent about 6 months writing and researching for this video, but I wouldn’t have been able to make it without the help of some amazing people. Check out the vid if you haven’t had the chance yet, and show them some love on their channels too ✌️
Thanks again to @ana-isabel, Dr. Anne Chao, @CheyenneLin, @elliotsangestevez,@LadyJenevia, Kimmy Yam,@SajiSharma, @AccentedCinema , and @bfbmain for providing such great insight for this video!

With yet another ten ton nuclear verse from Kendrick, here's a little reminder if you needed to remember why he's the GOAT.

Great video from F.D. About something I’ve talked about my whole life with my wrestling friends. Actually something I’ve wanted to talk about on the channel for a while.
Check it out!

Terrence here 👋🏼 In preparation for my next video (an extensive look at a thematic pattern in Asian American/Canadian media), I had the pleasure of talking to Yang from @AccentedCinema . He had a unique opinion on Past Lives that I hadn’t considered, and we also touched on films like Crazy Rich Asians, Turning Red, EEAAO, etc. You’ll see snippets in the upcoming video but the full convo is already up on Patreon. We’ll be posting more conversations there in the lead-up to the video so stay tuned: www.patreon.com/qualityculture

Hey y’all, it’s Terrence. I’m planning on interviewing Asian creators and/or academics for an upcoming video on a certain book/movie that’s had a big influence on Asian-American stories over the years. I gained a lot of insight from FD for my Rush Hour video, so I’m hoping to do more of that moving forward. I already have a few people in mind but would love suggestions, especially for small creators. Feel free to comment about anyone you think can offer an interesting perspective!
P.S. Thanks for all the love on my past few videos. I still have a full-time job so it’s been tough to consistently write essays, but I appreciate the support!

Forgot to mention it but we did a follow-up to the Frog and Toad video over on our $2 patreon, where I try interpreting the other 11 stories in the same style. Check out the preview here 🐸: www.patreon.com/posts/frog-and-toad-93063378

While I was editing I’d get transfixed by all the attention to detail and just look at stills for several minutes at a time. He even has little fingernails 🥺
If you haven’t gotten the chance to watch our video on Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio you can check it out here!: https://youtu.be/0J0sHCs99hM

Since I've already made two full fledged videos on the channel for Taylor, I thought I'd keep it a little casual this time. So if you wanna hear my thoughts on Taylor Swift's Midnights, peep our Patreon for this patron-exclusive video! And lemme know your thoughts on the album while you're here 😊

Welcome, we're Stef and Terrence!
We make video essays about pop culture stuff, including shows, films, music, books, and just general social concepts.
We love examining the connections between popular media and the ideas at their core. Fundamentally, all of the art we consume is about storytelling. On this channel, we try to dissect what stories are being told, and why. And we try to recognize what makes us like/dislike these stories in the first place. Hope it resonates with you, and hope you enjoy!
