This Bhutanese referee, Choki Om has been a target of malicious online attacks from thousands of Nepali football fans since yesterday's Nepal vs India match.

Nepali TikTok and Facebook are all filled with unthinkable abuses towards her today. Hopefully, she doesn't become another victim of online bullying. The referee is a human being too and is subject to mistakes. Whatever might have actually occurred on the pitch, it would have been impossible for any referee to verify it in the absence of VAR. She will take this as valuable experience and will be cautious in the coming days.

I am not saying that there should not be constructive criticisms about the mistakes she made, but bullying a woman personally all across social media and even targeting her country is never a good thing. This crosses all boundaries of civility.

I request my Nepalese brothers and sisters not to bully her and link the whole country with hateful remarks for a particular incident.
