We are safe. We were only out of electric about 8 hours. Memaws husband hooked me up on generator for oxygen. All our family are safe and waiting on the next one to come in.

This channel provides cookin', cannin', craftin', talkin' and teachin' tricks from the Granny Women of Appalachia in a way only they can share.
Life in the hills and hollows of the Appalachian Mountains was never easy. In the 1800-1900's, often secluded from "modern" medicine and commodities, families learned to live off the land and pass medicinal practices from generation to generation. Women who managed to survive the rugged mountain life and childbirth were commonly referred to as "Granny Women". The community often sought the wisdom of these respected Granny Women for life's daily struggles.
Join us as we share Appalachian stories, recipes, crafts, and more from Granny and her kin.
Born in 1942, Granny was one of seven siblings, 5 girls and 2 boys. The daughter of a school teacher and a factory worker, Granny grew up cooking and sewing and learning the Appalachian way of life. She passed on her traditions to her children and grandchildren...and now on to you.
