From 1953 to 1981, Peace Pilgrim walked more than 25,000 miles on a personal pilgrimage for peace. Wearing a blue tunic with just a few worldly possessions in her pockets, she shared her simple but profound: “when enough of us find inner peace, our institutions will become peaceful and there will be no more occasion for war.” Throughout her 28-year journey, she vowed to “remain a wanderer until mankind has learned the way of peace, walking until given shelter and fasting until given food.” She touched the hearts, minds and lives of thousands of individuals across North America.
Today, Peace Pilgrim’s words continue to inspire people around the world. Friends of Peace Pilgrim remains dedicated to keeping her message of inner and outer peace available by providing books, videos, newsletters & more to all who ask.
