An exciting NEW math competition for college undergrads (ICMT) intercollegiatemathtournament.org/

For many students, participating in math competitions was a significant part of their high school experience. But once college begins, those opportunities almost disappear. Aside from the Putnam Exam, there are very few chances for undergraduates to push themselves, solve challenging problems, and experience that same competitive energy.

To change that, a group of Columbia graduate students and former organizers of the Berkeley Math Tournament, Stanford Math Tournament, HMMT, and other top contests came together with a shared vision: to create a new national platform for college students who still love math competitions.

The first Intercollegiate Mathematics Tournament (ICMT) will be held at Columbia University on February 28, 2026. Pre-register here: ic.mt/register

Undergraduates of all experience levels are welcome. Division A features problems similar in difficulty to the Putnam, while Division B is designed to be more beginner-friendly. The tournament consists of three exciting rounds, each focusing on creativity, collaboration, and in-depth problem-solving. Website and sample problems: intercollegiatemathtournament.org/

If you have any questions or are a graduate student interested in writing problems, email team@intercollegiatemathtournament.org

This is not a sponsored post. I’m promoting ICMT for free because I believe in their mission, and it’s been a real pleasure working with many of the organizers who were also part of the Berkeley Math Tournament.

Cheers,
bprp
