In memory of Pope Francis (1936â2025)
He was my favorite pope, and I included him as a figure in this painting I made back in 2016 titled Corpus Christi (Body of Christ) â now part of the Tia Collection in New Mexico.
This piece reimagines the Crucifixion through an environmental lens, with Christ nailed to a tree rather than a cross â surrounded by a symbolic cast of saints, philosophers, extinct species, and colonizers. Pope Francis appears among them, as a reminder of his powerful voice for the planet.

Saludos amigos,
Just a quick update â no video this week. Iâve been posting weekly for a while now, but this weekâs been insane. Iâm in full-on painting mode trying to finish some large altarpieces for an upcoming museum solo show (details coming soon). Tight deadline, little sleep, and way too much coffee.
Iâll be back next week with a new video â probably something more personal, sharing thoughts on my creative process and what itâs been like working on these pieces. Honestly, I need a break from the Tarot readings and all the algorithm-chasing nonsense. Feels like the more we try to please the machine, the more we lose the soul of what weâre doing. I want no part in that. Just want to paint, think, and maybe share something real when the time feels right.
Crazy how much news drops in a single day, but what blows my mind more is how much you can learn just from working on one painting for hours. Itâs humbling. Itâs grounding. Itâs everything that social media isnât.

Wow... what a surprise these election results turned out to be! Like many of you, Iâve been processing what this outcome meansânot just politically but personally, and especially in terms of how we approach politics in art. I'm working on a video to dive into this, but I want to take some time to gather my thoughts and give you something truly insightful and well-considered.
The reason Iâm bringing this up is that, for a long time, politics was a big part of my artwork. Itâs only in the past few years that Iâve gradually started to move away from it. Now, after everything, I think I might finally be done with political art for good. But who knowsâart has a way of bringing us back to ideas we thought weâd moved past!
What do you all think? Do you feel like politics in art still has a strong purpose, or do you find yourselves also drawn to art that steps outside of the political sphere? I'd love to hear your thoughts as I continue exploring my own.
