So a lot of folks have asked about my progress on the sci-fi DRPG I've been making. I took a break from it most of last year, but I've been chipping away at the project the last few months. I will have a bigger update in the coming months--for now, I made this quick concept art collage to offer a glimpse into the vibe I'm going for.
This is by no means the full amount of art I've completed; it's just a collection of a few of my favorites (the art is mostly WIP and no designs are final). I made it as part of a viral indie dev trend that's going around twitter where devs show off their game and the inspirations behind it (in my case: 7th Saga, Phantasy Star, Metroid, Baroque, and Etrian Odyssey). Actual gameplay reveal videos and an overview of the world/lore will come eventually!
Speaking of new videos: as many folks know, I started a new full-time job as an associate editor at GameSpot last month, which has been going very well! I'm still acclimating to the new schedule but I've found some free time here and there to work on The Crawl content behind the scenes. So stay tuned for more videos soon!
It's crazy to think that I uploaded How Metroid Saved The Galaxy exactly one year ago today. Thank you to everyone who was involved in the production and to all who've watched and shared. I'm on the latest episode of the Daydreamcast! It's a 3-hour banger covering a bunch of games, but most importantly, we deep-dive into Dark Souls 2 (I also gush about Shiren 6 and FF7).
Btw--I know I promised a couple videos recently. Real life has gotten in the way, as it always does, lol. Hopefully these recent podcast appearances can help bridge the gap.
I’m back on Press Start Turbo this week as a guest host along with the homie @KBash. We cover some news and new games like FFVII Rebirth, Unicorn Overlord, Helldivers 2, and Persona 3 Reload. But also Ape Escape 3–which Kbash and I compare to uh… Steambot Chronicles and King’s Field IV so we are 100% in full form in this episode lol.
So I can finally say it: The next video will be on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Square Enix generously sent me an early review code (one of the few perks of freelance games journalism lol), and I've played just over 50 hours so far. The script is mostly written; It won't be a review per se, but will certainly cover my feelings on the game, but from a specific angle unique to my experience with FFVII overall. Expect the video to drop around or after the release date next week.
After that, we'll get back to the regular developer interviews and deep dives on niche titles once again--I just have a lot to say about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and I'm excited to share my thoughts with y'all soon!
Hey friends, quick update: it's looking like the next video will be out end of Feb/very early March. I am still working on it and don't wanna get too into the topic yet, but just wanted to keep y'all posted since the vet issues earlier this month delayed things. I'll update again in a few days once it's closer to completion.
