I love wooden boats. Building them, sailing them, rowing them and maintaining them. I'm building a boat shop right now to fulfill a lifelong dream to share my love of wooden boats with everyone in an effort to keep the ancient skills alive.
A goal is to get this post and beam structure finished and start building small craft, most suited to the muddy, shallow waters of the nearby Petaluma Slough. This body of water has been used for over 170 years to bring produce and agricultural products to San Francisco via the nearby San Francisco Bay. We'll learn about boats that can thrive in 10" of muddy water, and still survive some of the roughest waters in the world.. summers in San Francisco Bay. Will have guest wooden boat enthusiasts teach classes, tell stories, and drink too much beer. "How to" series on inexpensive and simple small boat building projects will lead to more complex and elegant craft.
Join us and have some fun building something!
