I highly advise that Raksha Mantralay installs a hotline with Hollywood—just to keep an eye on any dramatic plot twists.

PM Modi will be in Russia; American infantry companies are in Pakistan; we must make sure everyone is on the same page—if not on the same continent.

Actually, there is no need to sugarcoat this.

The perception that India aligning with the US necessitates its distancing from Russia is a simplification. Russia remains a key defence partner and a source of energy supplies to India, and India’s foreign policy is pragmatic and non-aligned, valuing relationships based on mutual benefits rather than ideological alignments.

For many countries in Africa, Latin America, and parts of Asia, Russia is not seen as an international pariah. As an emerging power among these nations, India reflects their sentiments and interests, emphasising dialogue and multipolarity rather than isolation.

PM Modi’s Russia visit underlines India’s strategic balancing. New Delhi rejects simplistic binaries and believes in a mature, multi-faceted diplomatic engagement that seeks to maximise Indian interests just like any other country.

The Americans really need to understand that foreign policy analysis should be based on a nuanced approach and not reductionist or ideologically motivated assumptions.

It was Switzerland so the Hindujas got convicted; had they been in India, the exploited domestic workers would likely have mysteriously disappeared by now or been implicated in a slew of false cases. Instead of seeking justice, they would have been forced to seek clemency.

Uttho Farzoo, naashta kar lo.

Lekin Akhar, kya tumhe nahin lagta ke dono countries ke beech trade honi chahiye?

Hosh mein aao, Farzoo, camera band hai.

Oh, okay, please beef nihaari lagaana mere liye, naan ke saath.

Yet another woman murdered violently in India in broad daylight for trying to leave an abusive relationship.

“A 29-year-old Indian man batters his 22-year-old girlfriend to death with a spanner on a busy road because he didn’t like her speaking to her male colleagues.

Rohit Yadav (murderer) and Aarti Yadav (victim) had been in a relationship for the past six years, and the victim had been wanting to break up with him because of frequent fights and had even lodged a police complaint against him.

The jilted boyfriend says that he was only planning to confront her. However, the police suspect that he was planning to kill her all along as he was carrying a spanner and a knife in his pocket when he met her.”

Disturbingly, numerous conservative voices on Indian Twitter are being seen defending the bystanders’ non-intervention, perversely blaming feminism and women’s quest for equality for men’s lack of empathy. These reactions reflect a toxic culture that normalises violence against women and undermines their right to safety and autonomy, despite claiming to worship feminine energy.

This deep-seated misogyny being perpetuated on Indian social media over the past decade or so has been fostering an unchecked victim-blaming culture instead of holding perpetrators accountable. There is an urgent need to reject these harmful ideologies and implement stronger protections for women. However, the country’s polity, including its female lawmakers, is too preoccupied with exploiting communal strife to address these critical issues.

Durdana Najam: Arzoo Kazmi loves beef.

Arzoo Kazmi: I don’t do qurbaani.

Seriously, why not just admit that you eat beef or deny it outright? Why play these childish games?

Plenty of Pakistanis consume beef openly without pretending. No Indian cares about what a Pakistani eats or how he or she celebrates Eid. Why not stop fooling people and just be honest about who you are?
