Be Happy in Every Situation – A Story to Learn English

In a small village, lived a kind-hearted woman named Mary, known for her generosity and wisdom. Though she lived alone, the villagers often visited her, seeking advice and sharing their lives with her. In return, they ensured she was never in need, bringing her food and supplies.

One brisk autumn morning, Mary went into the forest to gather firewood. During her walk, she stumbled upon an old, partially buried pot. When she opened it, her eyes widened – it was filled with shining gold coins! Mary’s mind filled with dreams of a comfortable, luxurious life. She pictured herself in a grand home, seated by a warm fireplace. But there was a catch: the pot was too heavy for her to carry on her own.

Determined, Mary crafted a makeshift slide to haul the pot. But as she pulled it along, she noticed something strange – the gold started turning to silver. Though disappointed, she reminded herself that silver was still valuable, enough to fulfill some of her dreams.

Yet, as she continued, the silver transformed again, this time to iron. Mary felt disheartened; her dreams seemed to fade with each step. But after a moment’s pause, she took a deep breath and realized that she’d been happy even before she found the pot. Her life, simple yet filled with the love and support of her community, was already rich.

Mary decided to leave the pot in the forest and returned home, embracing the joy of her modest life. That evening, as she sat by her old fireplace, she felt a warmth in her heart that no amount of gold could match. She’d learned that true happiness didn’t depend on wealth but on the love and kindness shared with others.

Mary’s story reminds us that real joy is found within, not in what we possess. She lived happily ever after, richer than any amount of treasure could make her.
