Uploading now. It's over an hour longâsort of an audiobook with pictures. The story centers around finding a crazy swimming hole back in the late-mid 90's, but it's slow and thought-provoking. There are intense parts, but I'd consider its mood philosophical overall. It was lots of work, and I'm somewhat proud of the writing, so I hope you'll enjoy. I'll try to post it before the weekend, and I'll leave it unmonetized so there won't be ads. Please share it if you end up liking it, because I'm sort of afraid it will go unnoticed over how boring the pace is. It's called
đˇđđ'đĄ đđĄđđŚ đđ đĄâđ đđđĄâ.
Apologies for both the hype and the interruption. Your continued interest is appreciated. Hope you're enjoying the summer.

Imagine tracing out the path of its tip over time. What shape would it start to reveal as time approaches infinity? Some sort of toroid thing?

Sigh. YouTube.
Corporations are not evil. In fact, they provide us with tons of goods and services that we just wouldn't be able to produce without them. That is, we couldn't provide them at the same stripped-down, optimized prices that such big operations can. Again, not evilâthey're just big, dumb, ugly, hungry sharks.
In this area, there's this one big internet-providing fish floating over my house that has driven away all its competitors, so uploading a video here sometimes takes 48 hours. That's why you are reading this complaint right now, instead of watching the video that was s'posed to be posted. In the meantime, there's a relevant media issue that you might consider, and it relates to just how non-discerning sharks can be.
You've heard about all of those weird 'kids' channels, right? And how uploaders now have to label their content as either for kids or adults? This is because the FCC has finally cracked down on YouTube for... well, it's a long story. Suffice it to say that the key ideas involved are: children, advertising, data selling, algorithm manipulation, and greed. Imagine where this dotted line goes, and you'll probably guess most of the story. Let's go back to the analogy. Â
Sharks don't really discriminate between little fish, swimmers, or even kids; they just point their snoots at moving things and consume whatever they hit. For this reason, sometimes sharks have to be muzzled. Rigid capitalists will here start to fume at this metaphor. It doesn't make much sense to introduce new sharks into the tank; a corporate shark does not move for the demands of smaller business sharks. Corporations are above competition. Proponents of capital systems also hate the muzzle idea, because it is their belief that de-regulated sharks will sort the problem out on their own, in part by chasing away or starving the less efficient sharks. Of course, we can't muzzle everything- I'm not a hard socialist, either. Muzzles have to be placed with extreme care, caution, and consideration. The goal is not to starve the sharks. But the data is in, and we have some pretty clear evidence now that unregulated systems are not forever sustainable, so if you're in one of the extreme economic camps, shouting for 'freedom,' it's time to let that antiquated and selfish system go. Future economies will be hybrids that incorporate ideas from every model that proves itself to work. If it ends up being a shark-centipede, so be itâas long as the system is sustainable and ethical. One giant shark in a tank is not. Two of them is no better.
Anywho, the following video was released two years ago today, and it was pointing at the problem then (which is just now being addressed). Please read my thoughts here as an opening to considering these issues under a different light, and not as empty whining from an advocate who's arguing in favor of regulation. This is a multi-faceted issue, and so I might be persuaded to consider many ways forward from here. And THAT is my thesis; as soon as you become an advocate for only one specific system, you now have your wheel stuck in the mud. Here's the appropriate Emerson quote:
âIf I know your sect, I anticipate your argument.â
Let's not be so group-minded. Sharks don't give a fishbut* which
school you swim in. One more thing: media literacy is a moving target. We're never done incorporating new information as long as we're still on an increasing tech curve. Don't be stagnant; to be resolved to an ideology is to have stagnation of thought, and that's exactly what partisanship is. To those single-issue, talking-point responders, who will clearly demonstrate that they've understood only a line or two of this, your comments will be deleted. Stupid doesn't automatically earn free space to voice here. Told you, I'm not a socialist, either; incentives are the basis for productivity (and creativity). You aren't all equal, and that's why we have to protect some of you from us sharks. Because if it were up to me, you would have to pass literacy and competency tests before putting an opinion to text. Relax! This is satire. You're reading this for entertainment. I'm just trying to provoke you to think. Enjoy the weekend ;) I'll try to have the vid posted before it's over.

This image was in a build edit from last year that I'm picking back up, and I think it's worth thinking about. The context relates to shop procedure, like making jigs and stuff to help with your project. This is a concept we all know too well, but it's just cool to look at it in graph form.

Coming up... a short series on deep-woods firewood storage? Maybe something like the structure in this video. Be sure to check this channel out!
For my purpose, a large neighboring property was logged last season, and I've been given permission to use whatever remains. It's pretty far away, so that means I'll need a waystation at the back end of my woods for storing materials and firewood. Probably nothing fancy, but it will be a prototype for a future wood shed that will be closer to my shop. For video simplicity, let's keep it to 10-minute clips and a playlist.

My advice, for what it's worth, is that you watch this from the beginning and do not skip through. Just sit down, perhaps with a meal, and lose all of your expectations. This guy's content is saturated with brilliance. If you still don't believe me, go to his channel's 'Community'Â tab, scroll to the bottom, and read.
You could go watch some other moralizing blowhard tell you what is "correct" procedure for your axe handles. Or instead, you could work on developing autonomy and self-reliance as skills that can replace the maxims of false authorities. I am personally recommending this channel to you, because I think you would choose the latter.

This is my second channel. I understand that some of you won't like that idea, but please consider: Once you start to gain an audience, they will naturally start to develop expectations. Those expectations quickly become demands, and so any content that's different will be met with intense hostility.
So, this is a spillover place for stuff that's less streamlined and/or less related to whatever "theme" is supposed to be appropriate for my main channel. In other words, I reserve the right to put all sorts of random things here, and you are never allowed to complain about it! This is also the home of the "Minute solutions" playlist, and hopefully along the way I will try some other new content approaches. Expect to find some seriously hidden material around these parts. I'm not going to just spoon-feed you eggs here; you will have to work for them! They will be rare.
