Hi all,
It's been a while I know.
Life has been busy for me and I just haven't had time to get out on any adventures lately. Nothing major, just the regular life and job stuff.
Making these videos takes a lot of time, effort, and commitment (for me anyway), and I wouldn't feel good about putting out content that I haven't put that time, effort, and commitment into. I would rather put up no video than one I haven't put my my all into. That is why I haven't got anything up in the last few months.
Also the forest I usually film out of got logged clean in the past few months, which is less than ideal shall we say 😒.
It really hit hard at the time but I'm over it now, onward and upward, roll with the punches etc. etc. 💪
Anyway this is just to let you all know that I haven't disappeared off the face of the planet altogether.
I hope you are all keeping well, and getting out to enjoy the great outdoors 🌲😊🌲
P.S. I hope to get something out in the next month.

YouTube pushing me hard to enable mid-roll ads in ALL my videos!
I know they negatively impact the viewer's experience way too much during a video to justify a mere UPTO 5% increase in earnings. I wouldn't do it for a GUARANTEED 100% increase never mind 5%!
Maybe it's just me but the amount of mid-roll ads in most videos lately is shocking, most big channels have ad breaks every 5 mins. It's getting as bad as regular TV, which is already dead due to this fact.
If YT, and the creators that make them money, aren't careful with this, viewers will leave in droves (I'm positive they've already lost the younger generation). No viewers - no more YouTube!
I'm sure this post won't help me in terms of the YouTube recommendation system, but I really don't care and I honestly never have, I'm not making videos to get rich, If I were I would given up on it by now.
So the next time you're watching a video from your favorite creator and getting blasted with ads every 5 mins just remember they basically sold out YOUR viewing experience for a 5% increase in THEIR revenue.
I suspect that YT is losing market share with advertisers (like regular TV) and the slippery slope has begun......
To continue to attract advertisers they lower their price.
To maintain their profits they need to sell more ads....
.....and you see where this is going
No big channel will tell you any of this as their only focus it seems is making more money at your expense (and ultimately their own too).
Anyway, rant over. Let me know your thoughts on this, good or bad.
