The College of Phlebology has been formed by a group of vein experts who wish to do two things:
Firstly to help the public understand more about veins and about the very best vein treatments that are available;
Secondly to help fellow professionals understand the new research about veins, and the latest information about the new endovenous techniques for treatment.
With 40% of the population suffering from venous problems such as varicose veins, thread veins, venous reflux disease ("hidden varicose veins"), swollen ankles, skin changes at the ankles, phlebitis, leg ulcers etc - and with only approximately 20% of them seeing varicose veins on the surface - there is a huge number of patients suffering from venous disease without knowing the cause of their problems.
Even worse, a great many patients who turn up to doctors and nurses who are not venous experts, get sent away without treatment when they could actually be cured.
