Power cuts and voltage fluctuations can be life threatening, particularly at health facilities. They are common in several parts of India’s rural and peri urban areas. 3 percent of Jharkhand densely forested limiting access to grid connected power supply. Here, renewable energy is a life saver. HSBC, Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI) and WRI India collaborated to install 65 kWp of solar PV in seven rural hospitals in Jharkhand to provide sustainable, affordable and reliable energy supply and store the excess for future use.
