Gealdýr is a project by Dutch singer and songwriter Jonathan Barendsma, with as aim to bring Old Norse wisdom back to life through music. Gealdýr started in 2019 and has become an established name in the Nordic folk/Viking genre over the past few years, with releases like Ymir (with Danheim), Sól and SÌr.
A new album is expected to be released in early 2023.
The name âGealdĂ˝râ is a combination of the Gaelic word âgealâ (white) and the Old Norse word âdĂ˝râ (deer), together meaning âwhite deerâ.
