Videos will return next week, we've been busy filming and learning at our latest Kibler Kit Assembly Class with Mike Brooks.
Class is in session! Day 1 of this week's Kibler Kit Assembly Class with Mike Brooks is well underway as students begin fitting their barrels and other hardware to their stocks.Ā
The Southern Mountain Rifle was a favorite during last year's class, but the Kibler Colonial makes up the majority of this weekās class at 5.Ā
With a coffee pot going, students begin inletting and fitting the parts of their Kibler Kits. Barrels and buttplates go on first, providing some stability and protection to the stocks.Ā
Mike and Wayne have brought a few pieces from their personal collections for students to take inspiration from. There is no better reference than a fine rifle in person to guide the decisions of these new builders.
This week we're testing the Traditions St. Louis Hawken at one of the NMLRA Woods Walk courses to see how well it shoots!
In 2020 we were asked to be a part of the Backcountry Rookies āMuzzleloader Marchā series as they share insights and history on how muzzle loaders can be used in Western Big Game Hunting to increase odds and lead to memorable hunts.
It was great to talk to Chad about the history of muzzleloaders and how they have changed over time. Be sure to check out the full series from the Backcountry Rookies as they plan their custom build with NMLRA Match Sponsor Arrowhead Rifles and start hunting with a muzzleloader.

We had a great time at the range with the Traditions Hawken kit, as seen in our build series. After a few shots we were shooting into the "X ring" offhand at 25 yards. Keep an eye out for the videos on this and more later this week.
More filming coming this week! We had several interviews last week for the podcast that made it hard to film, but this week is going to be dedicated to preparing for and getting to the range!

Muzzleloading and Living History arenāt dying, They are evolving.
Weāve been publishing āMuzzle Blastsā magazine in one form or another since 1930. Muzzle Blasts is the Original Muzzle-loading, Traditional craft, and Living History Magazine. Delivered to your door or email every month, each issue is packed with content about muzzleloader shooting sports, living history, traditional craft, tutorials, stories and accouterments.
To expand on the quality Muzzle Blasts delivers each month, the NMLRA has launched a new media initiative to bring you more of what you love.
We know you love the Muzzleblasts Magazine, and we want to bring you more of what you love each week.
Our dedicated Media Team will be covering not NMLRA events and classes, but muzzleloading and living history events across the country to show you that Living History is not dying, itās evolving.
