On the eighth day of Margasira Month, the eldest child of the family is honoured with new clothes and Steamed cakes. The ritual involves Aarati of the eldest child by mother and relatives in which the maternal uncle sends the items necessary for the rituals.
On this day, the mother of the child worships "ShastiDevi" - the goddess who protects children, for the betterment of the child. It is believed that this tradition began when "ShreeLingaraja" (Lord Shiva) went to his maternal's place on this day and was honoured as above.
The first-borns take up the burden of the family after the death of the parents. The first-borns are mostly healthy, obedient and tradition-bound. Therefore, the family tradition is maintained through them. For such obvious reasons the eldest child is honoured to occupy the respectable place in the family after the death of the parents.
Enduri Pitha is the main delicacy of the day. usually prepared by wrapping spilt Black Gram Batter stuffed with coconut and Sugar/jaggery in turmeric leaves and then steamed.

I recently dined at Silver Stick (Tiamo) and had a fantastic experience! Our server, Sarada, was extremely friendly and attentive.
The food was outstanding, with a few standouts:
- Mixed E Fu Noodles: Perfectly cooked and flavorful.
- Dragon Chicken: Tender, juicy, and full of flavor.
The combination of these two dishes was absolute perfection!
However, I would caution against the Mixed Chinese Chopsuey, as it was a bit hard to digest.
We also enjoyed the Masala Soft Drinks
