But we have to discuss about the match and the way our boys played in it.
India vs Kuwait (1-1)-
1. Kuwait-
143rd placed FIFA ranked country seemed a tougher opponent than Lebanon. They were technically really good, controlled the game, tested our defence left and right, were very aggressive, made the most out of every little tackle to get the refrees attention and did not let us rest in the game for even a minute. Seems like a really strong opponent to me.
2. India-
We knew what we were getting into. Even though our place in the semi-finals was secured but Stimac took this match seriously from the start. Looking at the lineup he played the best of our boys and clearly started the game with an attacking mindset.
The biggest blow in the game would be Jhingan not playing in the Semis because he was booked in the first 14 minutes of the match. Also, Stimac getting a red card. Again. This is the sort of red card that i understand. A lot was happening in the game. The opponent was very strong. But in future we are going to face even tougher opponents and our coach can't always lose his temper to miss out on the next matches. I still feel having a coach on the touchline is far more important than anything else.
The goal scored by Chettri had my heart. 92 is the ongoing number for our captain and i can't wait for him to hit the century. That goal was clinical and straightforward. If you noticed Chettri was guiding the players from the first minute of the game so that we stay focused throughtout the 90minutes. Yesterday, for the first time i felt we shouldn't have substitued him because the boys lost their cool and there was noone to help them to be present in the game more than focusing on getting physical. But again, Chettri cannot save us forever. So it's a good learning for the boys.
Our set pieces, free kicks were taken really well yesterday. Mahesh Singh's first touch and ball control has my ❤️. He gave a tough time to the opposition winning the ball back from him.
Now talking about Anwar Ali's own goal and India conceding a goal after almost 8 clean sheets in a row. I feel so sad for him as he was making a clearance but it got deflected and there was no way Amrinder could have saved that. I don't blame Anwar for it and why should we. Things like these happen in the game. We all know he has been the best Centreback for us and he is still so young. But but. Amrinder singh is surprising me every time he plays. He made 2 terrific saves and his ball playing skills are improving. What a massive massive change in the keeper. Really happy for him.
One thing that impressed me the most was how good our full backs Mishra ji and Nikhil Pujari are. Bhaisahab! Their speed, their interception, their crosses, their passing is phenomenal. There were some really physical tackles that these two had to make and they stood up to the challenge. Jaise karoge waise bharoge wali mentality chal ri thi. Not even a lil bit scared of the opponent. Perfectly splendid.
Onto the semi-finals people. Lets defend the title. But but m missing one more thing.
The crowd. Bangalore turned up during this competition man. Kal vande mataram se Jhingan, kal Chettri se leke crowd getting involved in duels. It was amazing. Loved every bit of it.
